2004 Annual Training Totals Posted: Fri Dec 31, 2004 9:24 am

I started 2004 last January with 3.5 miles on the treadmill, and I finished it today with a muddy and hilly 6 mile trail run. Thanks to my trusty log I can now put together some stats for the year. Spreadsheet lovers, geek out!

total runs: 350
average pace: 8:31/mi
longest running streak: 77 days
total distance: 2631 miles
worst week: 16 miles
best week: 75 miles
average week: 50.3 miles (woohoo, over 50 mpw for the year!)
worst month: 104 miles, January
best month: 306 miles, August

My biggest regret is that my training didn't align with my racing very well. My peak training months were May through August, but almost all my races were early or late in the year.

Anyone else?

Something like 1780 miles for the year, with a longest week of 63 miles. Definitely my best year of training ever, but I hope to improve upon it this year.

Just 1000 miles even for my first year running. I finished it off last night with a 5K that beat my highschool PR (mind you I was pretty slow in highschool), but it's nice to finish off the year 'officially' in better shape than I was at 17 y.o.

WOW! That's awesome. My year definitely pales in comparison. It definitely wasn't one of my better years. . I didn't do a lot of running from January thru March for various reasons (mostly weather), and haven't put in a good week since running the NYC Marathon due to recovery from Plantar Facsciitis.

Total Distance: 1735
Average Pace: 8:17
Ave/Week: 43 miles (partial year)
Races: 13
Total Race Distance: 138.7
PRs: (1) Half-Marathon, 1:40:15

How about your race stats (i.e. Total Races, Total Distance, PRs)?

Congrats on the new annual mileage record! Do you have a particular number in mind for this year's goal? 2005 miles for 2005 maybe?

1000 miles even, you sure planned that one nicely! That's definitely more than I did in my first year of running. Way to go, and congrats on the 5K too. Was that a training run or a race? Can we expect to see a race report posted sometime soon? We need to live vicarously through you. :-)

That's too bad... hopefully things will go more smoothly for you for 2005, and you'll be injury free. How is the PF now, mostly better?

My 2004 race stats were about the same as yours, actually:
Races: 13
Total Race Distance: 131.1 miles
New PRs: 5K 20:26; 10K 43:41, Half-Marathon 1:34:44, Marathon 3:15:55
