Daniel's running formula, second edition

Hi Rickshaw,
I have the second edition, I think the photo on your site is for the first edition. I don't have the first so I can't compare. Would be interesting to start a thread comparing them.

I wasn't aware that there was a second edition... do you know when it was published? Maybe Amazon.com has some reviews describing the differences between the two.

I saw a quick and dirty comparison on the RW Marathoning formum a month or so ago...some guy killing time reading the new version in the bookstore while his wife was shopping elsewhere. Only a few changes were cited, such as some updates to the elite runner profiles, and actually some changes to the VDOT tables that reduced some of the paces by 1 or 2 seconds. His conclusion was that if you owned the 1st edition, it wasn't worth going out to buy the new one.

Strange, I just checked Amazon.com, and they don't have any mention of a 2nd edtion. The only thing they have is the original 1998 edition.

I got a chance to look at
Daniels Running Formula second edition
today for about 10 minutes while browsing in a bookstore. I was surprised to see that it looks like Daniels made some fairly substantial changes. The training programs especially stand out, they look as though they've been completely rewritten. There are also new training programs for people targeting short distance races, as well as those aiming for fitness gains without a specific race goal. The rest of the material appears to have received a freshening too, and I noticed several new graphs and tables. All of the athlete profiles are new too, which I must admit were one of my favorite parts of the first edition. So even if you've already got the first edition, it may still be worth your money to buy the second edition.
