Amazing sights while running Posted: Sun Nov 13, 2005 9:46 am

Just curious: What are some of the more amazing things you've seen while on a run? I constantly am coming upon deer and coyotes on my trail runs, which always take my breath away; to stumble upon nature in action. Although last Saturday night, I ran from Hollywood to my home in North Hollywood, which is about 10 miles, and came across:

1. A large woman dancing in the middle of Hollywood Blvd in front of an H2 limo

2. A breakdancer spinning on his head

3. A homeless man passed out in the middle of the street (I called 911 and got paramedics to come take care of him).

Not many breakdancers here. A while back I did interrupt some kind of VERY LARGE bird of prey in the middle of eating a squirrel.

This doesn't qualify as amazing, but I've noticed a new kind of headwear gaining popularity among the women who share the trail where I do my long runs. It's a visor with a HUGE brim made of darkened plastic. The brim is probably twice the length of a normal baseball cap brim, and looks absurd. But to make matter worse, most of the women wear them with the brim pulled down in front of their face, so they look through the brim. Basically, it looks like a lot of ladies walking around wearing welder's masks. Every time I pass somebody wearing one, I have to fight the urge to stop and tell them how ridiculous it looks. But I guess it serves a purpose...
