Lance Armstrong runs 18:20 5K Posted: Tue Apr 11, 2006 12:49 pm

Lance Armstrong ran a local 5K race this past weekend, finishing in 18:20. It's a small charity race, organized by his ex-wife Kristin. The course is quite hilly, and was into a headwind, so pundits estimate this is about a 17:30 5K equivalent on a flat course. Results are here: http://www.doitsports.com/newresults3/client/22068_22102_2006.html

There's also lots of discussion about the results here: http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=1297500

The general consensus seems to be that Lance probably didn't specifically prepare for this race, but did give it a good hard effort and didn't just jog it in. So the question is what does this mean for his stated goal to run a 2:30 or 2:15 marathon?
