4/14 Club Race
Posted: Sat Apr 14, 2007 5:53 pm
I've been going to my Saturday club workouts semi-regularly for the past couple of months. Today was a 2.75 mile race on a rolling course, at which I managed an 18:49 time (6:52 pace). Those were my first sub-7:00 miles in quite a while. I'm still about 20 secs/mile slower than I was a year ago, but I've been training at a much lower volume of maybe 20-30 miles a week. I'm pretty happy. Now I just need to drop a couple of pounds too.
Anyone else doing any racing?

Great times, Rickshaw!
No races in my immediate future, although the summer will be filled with 'em, but my girlfriend ran her first race on Saturday: a trail 9k in the Santa Monica Mountains. She ran that bad boy in 1 hr, 5 mns, placing 8th out of 40 women and 33rd out of 79 overall.
I had better watch my @ss!

Congratulations to your girlfriend! Has she got any future races planned? Do you often run together? It must be great to have a built-in running partner.

We're actually planning on running a few races this summer, together, and separately: Next month, I'm doing a trail 14 miler while she does the 4 miler, then it's off to Big bear where I'll run a 33 miler and she, a 15. In August, we'll both hit a 25k race in the mountains, then onto my 100 miler, where she'll (hopefully!) pace me the final 25 miles in October.
Its amazing to have a running partner who's also another trail-geek. We spend lots of time looking at maps and washing dirt off of our feet.
