Life And Times Of A Running Shoe
Submitted by Rickshaw :: Tue Feb 15, 2005 10:12 pm
What should you do with your old running shoes? The Shreveport Times has the answers for you in their discussion of the lifecycle of a running shoe. You begin with a beautiful new pair that looks and feels great, but by middle age those shoes have become a bit taken for granted. Eventually they're retired to indoor duty, save for occasional trips to the grocery store. Late in their life they may take a turn as yard work shoes, before finally taking their place out with the banana peels and kitchen trash.

Good article. It describes to a T the lifecycle of my running shoes. Right now I have five pair of regular running shoes and three pair of trail shoes in use, two pair of retired shoes for everyday use, and two pair of retired shoes in the garage for yard work.

I was just filling out a survey card for a magazine. For the question "how many pairs of running shoes do you currently own," I was embarrassed to check the box marked "6 or more". There's no more space in my closet!
