Boston Qualification 15 Minutes of Fame Posted: Thu Feb 17, 2005 9:18 pm

OK, qualifying for the Boston Marathon is great, but it's really only of interest to yourself and maybe your other running friends. Unless you're from Portales New Mexico, that is. A 43-year-old runner who once attended Portales High School qualified for Boston, and he got an article in the newpaper! I guess everyone deserves their 15 minutes of fame.

Ha, I love it! Here's this guy who's accomplishment is thrust in front of everyone he knows, and the best thing his old coach could say was: β€œHe worked hard at it and had pretty good stamina, but he never was real fast.” Of course, I know that my old coach wouldn't even remember me, so I guess this fellow can count his blessings.

Yeah, that made me laugh too. Not exactly the kindest words.
