I promised mfox after my 50 miler that I'd let you all know when I began my training blog for October's 100, so here she is:

Enjoy reading my disorganised training methods, my experience running through hangovers, and a whole lot of cursing!

Nice blog, Rustyboy! Good luck with the training.
No more problems from your IT band, I hope?

Thanks, Rickshaw!
So far, I've been massaging the living hell out of my IT daily, and no problems. After my longest run since the 50 miler of 2 hours, 20 mns, I had zero issues. I just have to take it easy and let 'er heal up fully, so I'm cycling once/week to crosstrain.
Any summer races coming up? The girlfriend is from San Jose and she really wants to take me to run up your way on some trails this summer. I'll let ya know if I'm coming!

Good to hear. If you didn't have any issues after a 2+ mile run, then it sounds like it's in good shape!
I've got a couple races coming up soon, although nothing on the trails. I'm doing a 5K tomorrow, and a 10K the following weekend. Now that I'm not doing any specific marathon training, I can do random races pretty much every weekend without feeling guilty that it's hurting my long-term training.
