happy winter solstice!

Now that the shortest day of the year is behind us, we can look forward to more hours of daylight in the weeks and months ahead, which of course means more chances to go running!

Unfortunately for morning runners, the shortest day of the year doesn't coincide with the latest sunrise. Don't ask me why this is, I remember hearing the reason why once but can't explain it right now. But the calculator at
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneYear.html
shows that sunrise is going to keep getting later through the end of the year. Luckily for evening runners though, the time of sunset has been getting later since the first week of December.

It hit a high of 50 degrees in the NY area today. If we could only figure out how to keep it from getting colder.
