caught on radar!
Posted: Thu Jan 13, 2005 2:19 pm
I happened to pass by one of those "your speed is..." automated radar setups while running today. Of course I had to cross the street and sprint at the sign to see how fast I could go. I did a short, quick sprint that topped out at 13MPH, about 4:48/mile pace. I only held that speed for about two seconds, though, so it's not nearly as speedy as it might sound, but I'll take it anyway!

Do you think there's any chance some of the lights/bulbs where burned out and and the 1 was actually a 7. ;) Kind of like in the movie "The Rookie."

Here's what will blow your mind: at that speed for 26.2 miles and you
still
wouldn't break the world record! Well, you might. It would be close. I cannot imagine. The mind reels...

Yes, that's just about world record marathon pace. Amazing, isn't it? More food for thought: world record 100 meter pace is about 22 MPH. That's like a 2:40/mile pace... ouch!
