topless? Posted: Wed Jan 12, 2005 11:26 am

What's your opinion about men who do races shirtless? Aside from the obvious question of where to pin your race number... personally I think everyone should at least wear a singlet, but maybe I'm a prude.

Though I don't have the body type to feel comfortable going shirtless, I don't have a problem with other guys going shirtless. As for attaching your bib...I have one of those belts and so I don't pin my to my shirt. It's too much hassle to get it on level and centered (I'm anal about that sort of thing) and the pins ruin the high performance-type shirts I wear. I do have one of those Nike singlets that has the mesh pocket on the front that you can slip your bib into. I wear that occasionally when it's hot.

I'm with you. I'm pretty modest. I don't even go shirtless when I'm cutting the grass like alot of guys do. I also don't like the short-shorts some guys prefer (I like the 5" inseam in shorts).

Agreed. I just think it looks kind of... unprofessional? That's not quite it. But if the world's best athletes can wear a singlet in races, it just feels a little strange to see Joe mid-pack running shirtless.
