weekly woe Feb 21-27 Posted: Mon Feb 28, 2005 8:46 am

Unfortunately this was a very bad week for me. I was feeling pretty flat and tired at the end of last week, and that feeling carried on through this week too. I'm not sure what it was, but I just felt pooped all week, especially when I went for runs. I ended up skipping two runs, and cutting several others short, and walking a lot of the miles I'd planned to run. Maybe I'm sick with something, but I don't really feel sick, just tired. Anyway, I ended the week with just 19 miles total.

One more week until the Napa Valley Marathon. I plan to take it as easy as possible, hoping that whatever tiredness I'm experiencing will be gone by the weekend. Depending on how I'm feeling, I may not run at all until then.

Sorry to hear about your poopiness, Rickshaw. Get a lot of sleep, and hope for some nice sunny (but not too warm!) weather for race day to boost your mood.

I'm still gradually building up mileage, and continue to be surprised/disappointed by how tired I feel sometimes after just a 10-miler at 'easy' pace.

M 0
T 9 tempo
W 0
T 10
F 5
S 5
S 17

Tot 46

I was able to maintain a steady pace for Sunday's long run, though, and I think as a result of that I felt less tired at the end than I have after the past couple of weeks' 15-milers. This week's a recovery week, but I may run easy on one of the two scheduled rest days. I'm following the Pfitz 55mile/18 week plan, but would like to actually peak at 60 - 65 miles. That, however, will require that I start throwing in some extra mileage on a regular basis, and I guess now's as good a time as any.

I think Rickshaw that the down period will go away during the taper for the race, I agree with OMR, get good sleep and you'll be fine.

My week was shuffled around a bit with the race and travelling, but overall a week I was very happy with:

M 4 Tempo
T 3
W 8 Pace
T 4
F 0
S 4 Race + 7
S 3
Total: 34
