Another wipeout
Posted: Sat Feb 04, 2006 5:16 pm
I must be one heck of a clumsy runner. I had another nasty wipeout this morning-- I think this is my third in the past year. I was doing a six mile run through the neighborhood, in the middle of a fast bit, going around a 90 degree left turn in the sidewalk. I planted my foot and turned sharply, and my planted foot slid sideways on the wet pavement and flew out from under me. Before I knew what was happening, I was bouncing and skidding down the sidewalk. I wasn't seriously hurt, but I did rip some big sections of flesh off my knee and some smaller ones of my elbow and palms. Ouch!
I'm prepping for a half-marathon tomorrow, my first significant race in about a year. This wasn't the confidence boost I needed! :-( I guess I should just take it with a sense of humor, and revel in my klutziness...

Ohhh, MAN! I'm glad to hear you're all right. I think it's funny, how we forget that in a non-contact sport, that major injury is still possible. I've taken many-a-header on the trail, lo these past couple of years. The potential to bust a leg or snap an arm is always there.
Good luck on your race! We expect a full RR upon your return!
