finding a track (or good running routes) in another state Posted: Fri Feb 25, 2005 4:31 pm

Anyone know of a good website for locating a track or good running routes in another part of the country? I'm travelling to Ponte Vedra, FL (south of Jacksonville) next month, and am trying to figure out if there's a track or a running path with marked miles anywhere nearby. Thanks!

A good bet for finding a nearby track is by finding a nearby High School. That's what I always look for when I travel and want to do a track workout. Search the web for a link to the city or county park system. These sites will often provide trail information. Either before, or when you get there, look up a local running store and either visit or call them to get information on places to run. Try this link to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Greenways and Trails. You may be interested in the Guana River State Park trails.

You might also have some luck calling your hotel, or any large hotel in the area. The desk workers might know some running trails to recommend.

That's a good idea too. If you're staying at a hotel nice enough to have a concierge then contact him/her when you get there. It's their job to repond to questions by the guest and often will do a little "leg work" for you if necessary.
