Bernard Lagat To Run For USA

Top Kenyan distance runner Bernard Lagat has become a United States citizen, and may soon be competing for the US. Kenyan officials were reportedly caught unawares by the move and were shocked at the announcement. Lagat cited concerns about his post-running career as reason for his decision. Meanwhile, he could be competing on US teams as early as 2006 and likely has many more years of excellent running left to look forward to. Lagat is a graduate of Washington State University and has lived in the US since 1996.
