RIP, Runner's World forums
Posted: Thu Apr 27, 2006 2:00 pm
I don't know if anyone else ever reads the Runner's World forums, but they've been having all kinds of server problems for months, and nobody from Rodale seems to really care. I think today may be the last straw: the site has been unresponsive for hours, after going up and down continuously yesterday.
RIP, Runner's World. Maybe we'll get more people here as a result.

Hmmm. I'll have to check that out. I don't visit Runner's World anymore since I stopped subscribing to their rag. Though, I will admit I bought the May issue (and I did read Bricks article in the April issue while waiting for my wife at Borders) since I heard a reputable source recommend it for some good endurance training articles.
Somebody from Runner's World left me a message on my home answering machine today about wanting me to renew my subscription. Maybe I should tell them to check if the lights are still on in their data center.

Wow! Well, I used to go to the Marathon forum pretty often a year or more ago, but have rarely visited more recently. Well, maybe this WILL result in all kinds of new traffic at your place, Rickshaw. Get those Google Ads cranking out some click-thoughs! Cha-ching!

One of the best running forums I've seen is coolrunning.com. They get a fairly high amount of traffic and postings, but also tend to keep the discussions pretty focused and useful. Too often, the Runner's World forums seem to descend into meaningless chatter with no real point.

I also post at coolrunning.com, been there for a few years now. I use their running log on a daily basis.
