Sat, May 5th training Posted: Sat May 05, 2007 5:34 pm

Oh, man - I did my longest run since January's 50 miler: 2 hours, 22 minutes (appx 14 miles) in the mountainous trails of Malibu Creek State Park, where next Saturday's 14 mile race takes place. Luckily, my IT didn't bother me at all! BUT, I'd quite forgotten how much a runner relies on his/her abdominal strength on downhills. Since I've been cross training mostly up until 3 weeks ago, my core has gone to cr@p. My abs were KILLING me on the way down! I actually had to stop a few times and take the pressure off.

And, my girlfriend, who's running the 4 mile version of the race, ran 1 hour 20 mns. We did the first 4 miles together, and she SMOKED me!

Anybody else for the weekend?

That's great! I'm really glad to hear that your IT appears to be healthy and happy again. Wow, 2:22 of mountain running sounds like a pretty hardcore way to get back into things after several months off. You must be ecstatic to be back in action!
