Good luck Mr Bill! Definitely let us know how it goes. There are a lot of 5k's around here this weekend too, but I probably won't be racing. My run club is doing a "race" of about 5.7 miles tomorrow, so I'll probably do that instead.

I'm running in the NYRR Anniversary Run in Central Park. This year's race is 4.8 miles (48 year anniversary of the New York Road Runners club).

I had several hard workouts this week (20 mile bike/3 mile run Brick workout on Tuesday, hard 9 mile trail run on Wednesday, and 1mile swim/20 mile bike Brick workout on Thursday) and am feeling a bit tired. I took today off.

This race is more to get another qualifying race towards the nine I need to for a guarenteed entry in the 2007 NYC Marathon. I'm thinking about driving in to the city (rather than taking the train) and taking my bike and making this a run/bike Brick workout. But knowing me, my plans may change at any moment (even a half mile i nto the race). If I feel strong going into the first mile of the race I may decide to push it and see if I can hold a 7-7:10 pace. If not, then I'll just cruise it and then put in a harder bike ride.

We'll see what happens on Sunday.

I ended up running a pseudo-race on Saturday. My running club's weekend workout was a 6-ish mile race over a hilly course. It was just an intra-team competition, with no mile markers or course amenities of any kind. In fact, twice I started running the wrong way, and people behind me had to shout at me to come back and turn down some side street I'd missed. I couldn't really muster the will to push myself as hard as in last week's 10k, but it was still a very hard run. I think I finished somewhere about midway in the pack, which is a pretty good accomplishment in this crowd.
